Launch of the “Affordable Digital Devices” component of the DECIM Fund: a step forward toward digital inclusion in Madagascar

First grant awarded under DECIM Fund’s mini-grid program
Antananarivo, June 25, 2025 – The DECIM Fund has awarded its first grant under Window 1 – New Mini-Grids to Jiro Kanto, a subsidiary of ☺the IED Group and a key player in rural electrification around the Lake Alaotra (east of Madagascar). The grant will support the construction of a hydropower mini-grid to serve 3,711 households and productive users across 13 rural communities in Alaotra Mangoro region.
Jiro Kanto was established in 2024 to take over the assets of a previous mini-grid project damaged by Cyclone Batsirai in 2022. The project is expected to benefit approximately 18,500 people and will be implemented over 24 months.
Cette subvention financera la construction d’un mini-réseau hydroélectrique visant à raccorder 3 711 foyers et usages productifs, soit environ 18 500 bénéficiaires finaux, dans 13 fokontany répartis sur les districts d’Amparafaravola et d’Ambatondrazaka dans la région Alaotra Mangoro.
Le projet bénéficie d’un délai de 24 mois pour sa mise en œuvre, conformément aux conditions du Guichet 1, qui soutient des projets de construction de nouveaux mini-réseaux. Pour rappel, ce guichet a été lancé en mars 2025 lors d’un atelier de présentation, qui avait réuni tous les acteurs du secteur à Madagascar.
