Support
Mechanisms
To support the commercial distribution of the following categories of digital devices
Complementing the RBF grants, this funding aims to strengthen the broader sector. Activities that may be supported through the catalytic grant include (non-exhaustive list):
Credit Line
Financing for inventory and PAYGO receivables (for distributors), and refinancing of receivables for financial institutions active in the sector
Subvention FBR
To support the commercial distribution of the following categories of digital devices:
- Feature phones
- Smart feature phones
- Smartphones (entry-level and mid-range)
- Tablets and laptops (targeted at specific groups such as university students, tech start-ups, particularly women-led ones, etc.)
Incentive Bonuses to boost distribution among priority target groups:
- Women
- Remote geographic areas
- Use of mobile money
QS BASE grant
To promote the nationwide distribution of high-quality internet-enabled digital devices, ensuring that these products meet strong quality standards.
PAYGO grant
To encourage consumer-financed (PAYGO) sales, as this model helps reach more low-income target users who may not be able to afford devices upfront.
Catalytic
grant
Complementing the RBF grants, this funding aims to strengthen the broader sector. Activities that may be supported through the catalytic grant include (non-exhaustive list):
- Digital education, and the creation and development of local digital content that fosters digital, financial, and social inclusion
- Business expansion into new geographic areas
- Marketing and communication campaigns within the program’s framework
